Wonderful build quality. The front seats are wonderful, but the back seat space is even more impractical than I had ever thought when I test drove it. My son's Skoda Fabia has more space in the back! Very easy to live with (well, for the front seat occupants at least), though some of the switches are very badly placed and there are some software niggles with the satnav/touchscreen which are widely discussed on forums. Power is good, torque is just adequate. Handling and ride are fun, but it's no BMW in that department. On the other hand, when I had a BMW, I was on first name terms with the service guys. With my Lexus, I've met them once - for the annual service! Says it all!

This is a superb compact executive vehicle capable of challenging the very best in its class. On the slightly down side, it could do with more space in the back, body paint to be prone to swirl/scartches less easily, should 'sip' less fuel and gearing could be better. All of these are minor niggles compared with its sheer awesome power and aethetic appeal. When is Lexus going to release an ESTATE VERSION of this model?

Fantastic car aimed at the 3 series bmw, i believe the Lexus surpasses it easily. The level of equipment is fantastic, the economy is very good for a car with an engine this size. I average around 32mpg of which 80% is town driving. The comfort and ease of driving in this car makes me feel like i could drive all day and not feel that i had gone miles from home.

Excellent after care service provided. I previously had a BMW series1 from launch and had to keep chasing for help with a minor issue.
Lexus/ Johnsons Toyota always follow up any service or recall fix with a telephone call to check that the service provided was up to standard. I want to stay with this car forever. It was a great choice!

In the first two years the steering wheel collapsed, but the rest of the time it has been working in good order. I am not sure what I should say. I do not count the cost much. I would have preferred it if I could have a part petrol and part electric cars. this is to reduce the cost and perhaps road tax.

Persistant rattle from the facia - has been back to lexus twice and still rattles. aaagghhh!

Headlights are diabolical (worst car ever for main beam - and I include Fiat cinquento, renault 5, Suzuki splash, Mazda 323)

I had the dealer check this out and they say there is nothing wrong - I say that main beam is set too low - and they can't be adjusted anyway. Dangerous at normal night speeds - so I have to drive slow!

(I am a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, and RoSPA (gold) motorcyclist - so I value my opinion LOL)

59-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

A comfortable car to drive but very little space in the rear and the boot is worst than useless - not helped by the fact that you cannot put the rear seat down flat to increase the space
Fuel economy is dreadful - 35 mpg and the sixth gear is painful to use at anything under 80 mph - anything under 80 and it sounds as if the engine is struggling and it dosn't pull at all

Excellent no problems at all - this is the second lexus I have had and although bservicing costs can be expensive overall reliability and customer service is excellent. Fantastic car, even after nine years and over 120k miles. Still looks great and goes really well. The car is still serviced by Lexus but I have noticed that Lexus level of customer service has deteriorated over the years which is a real shame as they used to be so much better than Marcedes or BMW.

Minor problem with the offside door mirror swiftly rectified by main dealer under the dealer warranty. no other issues at all during the 8 months and 8k miles I have owned the car. Hi cost of road tax, quite thirsty (25mpg around town and about 35mpg on the motorway). insurance reasonable.

Great; I drive all year round commuting and leisure and all I have to do is fill it with fuel and keep an eye on the normal consumables . I think 30mpg is just acceptable for a small exec. car. I think the reliability of the car is reflected in the cost of serviceing and spare parts.

Once again a Lexus is crowned a Driver Power champion, with the third-generation IS debuting in the top spot in 2015.

This is a simply a brilliant car to own, in the top three of all cars surveyed for reliability, build quality and ride quality, and the easiest to drive of the lot, according to happy owners.

Its technology matches its futuristic styling, while it has some of the comfiest seats in the business – and it’s a dynamic drive, too. A worthy winner.

Great car, Lexus customer service very lacking at dealership level, but great at distributor level. I love the car, the economy, they might boast a bit more than you get but it beats the hell out my IS 200 automatic, which I also loved and drove for four and a half years. The comfort level driving on the secondary roads in Ireland is second to none and I often drive 200 miles in difficult country roads and arrive as fresh as when I left home. Mine is an executive model and having a serious back complaint, the lumbar support is terrific. The only technical problems I had was incorrect software and a requirement to have three modifications to the fuel system. I did have to reject the car, until the distributor came on board to rectify the problems. Alas it is the dealerships in Ireland that would possibly put me off buying another Lexus, but I do love the marque amd with a good exchange rate, would possibly look to the UK for my next purchase. The diesel engine could do with a bit of refinement, but the power is excellent, one you get over the turbo lag up to 2000 rpm

It has been a fantastic car, delivering everything expected of it, unlike some people who think that it is a bit boring against a BMW 3 series, I do not think so! At least the Lexus Dealers are not 'snobby in their attitudes towards you. The service from Lexus Teesside has been second to none, the only warranty situation was a small amount of corrosion on an alloy wheel & they did not argue and changed all four wheels, that is what I call service.
I have thought about my next car, it will most probably be a Lexus and would be interested in looking at the LF-Ch later on in the year.
All in all, a well engineered reliable car.

I had SAABs for many years. When Saab were taken over GM the quality & reliability went down culminating in my car needing two new engines (diesel) 1 at 18000 and at 36000. Lexus next door to the SAAB dealer offered me a good deal and I wish I had changed to Lexus years ago. The dealer was excellent, service first rate, costs reasonable, any recall was given an equivalent or higher courtesy car, bottle of wine & chocolates for the inconvenience. The car drives like dream, quietest car I have ever owned and puts some of the pleasure back into motoring! Totally reliable. Great 5**** +

This car has not lived up to the much vaunted Lexus build quality. It rattles too much and the plethora of "nanny" systems have become an irritation. The congestion avoidance system in the sat nav is brilliant, but the ipod integration is poor. Lexus seems to be moving towards being an hybrid only manufacturer, so my custom will go elsewhere. I now have mixed feelings about the car and the brand. The best word to sum up the IS is "annodyne"

New turbo fitted, new high presure fuel pump fitted, new water pump, still experiencing problems with tickover at all temperatures until temp needle is at maximum temp ( middle of the gauge) noisy gearbox. Fuel consumption does reach any where near the manufacturers figures, maybe as a result that I am using 50% more fuel than I should due to excessively high tickover speed.

Great extremely reliable car - rattle-free, good handling, with maybe tire wear & a bit more road noise than expected (no matter what the brand of tires)

Having been in the Lexus Business for 10 years. Iknew that the car I bought (IS300 Sport Cross) would be fun to drive and be reliable

Always starts, nothing goes wrong. wonderful. Nothing goes wrong so not much to spend money on except it's a bit thirsty in traffic.

Most reliable car I have owned. Would have liked to have got more to the gallon, maybe because I owned a diesel before this car.

Excellent build quality. dissapointed with suspension, steering geometry- follows the road surface e.g. rutts and depressions.

Up to now, no real problems. no breakdowns. Fuel consumption is worse than would be the norm nowadays for a 2 ltr petrol car.

It feels, sold, safe and reliable. Lots of kit and is very practical for a small estate. Could do with a little more MPG
